Phenylephrine: not for everyone
Not suitable with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, closed-angle glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, or within 14 days of an MAOI antidepressant, and not with other decongestants. Ages 16+. Contains aspartame and 118mg sodium per sachet. Ask a pharmacist in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

About Lemsip Max Blackcurrant
The hot-drink cold remedy at full strength: each sachet carries 1000mg of paracetamol for fever, headache, aches and sore throat plus phenylephrine to unblock the nose, in a blackcurrant drink that soothes on the way down. The 5-sachet pack covers a cold's worst couple of days and needs no pharmacist consultation. Adults and children 16 and over.
Why the Max
Standard Lemsip is 650mg of paracetamol per sachet; Max is a full 1000mg dose, the same as two tablets, so one drink does the job of a painkiller and a decongestant together. Blackcurrant suits people who find lemon too sharp on a sore throat.
How to take
Ages 16+: dissolve one sachet in a mug of hot water and drink. Repeat every four to six hours if needed, no more than four sachets in 24 hours, for up to five days. Leave four hours between paracetamol doses of any kind.
Good to know
Contains paracetamol: don't take with any other paracetamol product. The phenylephrine makes it unsuitable with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma or MAOI antidepressants. Contains aspartame. The 10-sachet pack is the pharmacy size.

How many can I take in a day?
Up to four sachets in 24 hours, at least four hours apart, for no more than five days.
Can I take paracetamol tablets as well?
No. Each sachet already contains a full 1000mg dose; adding tablets risks overdose.
Can I take it with ibuprofen?
Yes, if ibuprofen suits you: it contains no ibuprofen, so the two can be combined. Don't combine with any other decongestant.
