Product overview

About Syndol

The four-way tablet for headaches that have muscle tension behind them: paracetamol and codeine for the pain, doxylamine to relax the tight neck and scalp muscles that drive a tension headache, and caffeine to sharpen the painkillers. Syndol is a pharmacy medicine for tension headache and migraine relief and for soothing muscle pain — 10 tablets, for short courses only.

Why Syndol is different

Most headache tablets treat the pain and nothing else. Syndol's doxylamine is what sets it apart — an antihistamine with a muscle-relaxing, sedating action that suits the clenched-jaw, stiff-neck, end-of-the-day headache. That same action makes it drowsy, so it's a tablet for the evening rather than the office.

How to take

Adults and children 12+: one or two tablets every four to six hours as needed, never more than eight in 24 hours, as the pack directs. Maximum three days — it says so on the front of the box. Don't drive or drink alcohol after taking it.

Good to know

Codeine can cause addiction, which is why the questionnaire asks about recent use and why orders are capped. Contains paracetamol — no doubling up with cold remedies. Headaches on more than half the days of the month, or ones that keep needing codeine, are a GP conversation, not a repeat purchase.
