The original desensitising spray for men, made in the UK since the 1970s: a metered lidocaine 9.6% spray that reduces genital sensitivity to help delay ejaculation. Applied a few minutes before sex, it takes the edge off sensation without removing it — 12g can, plain packaging, pharmacist-checked.

How it works

Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic. A light application to the head and shaft of the penis dulls the nerve endings that trigger the climax reflex, extending the time to ejaculation. Effects start within minutes and wear off in under an hour — nothing is taken by mouth and nothing enters the bloodstream in meaningful amounts.

How to use

Apply the number of sprays in the leaflet to the head and shaft 5–15 minutes before intercourse, starting with the smallest amount that works. Follow the leaflet on washing off before intercourse and on condom use so your partner isn't numbed too. Don't exceed the stated maximum.

Good to know

Not for anyone allergic to lidocaine or other local anaesthetics, or on broken or irritated skin. Occasional temporary loss of sensation or a mild burning feeling can happen; stop if a rash develops. Premature ejaculation that's causing real distress deserves a pharmacist or GP conversation — there are other options.
