About Sterimar Congestion Relief Kids

A decongestant for babies and children too young for a medicated spray: hypertonic sea water enriched with copper that clears a blocked little nose in seconds and helps fight the cold behind it, with a patented safety nozzle that can't go in too far. 100% natural micro-diffused sea water, free from steroids, drugs and preservatives, from the brand GPs recommend most for nasal hygiene. 50ml can, from 3 months.

Why micro-diffused sea water

Babies can't blow their noses and don't breathe well through the mouth, so a blocked nose means poor feeding and poor sleep. A hypertonic (stronger-than-body) salt concentration draws fluid out of the swollen lining by osmosis, shrinking it without a decongestant drug, and the copper has a mild antibacterial action on the lining. The very gentle spray and the short, soft safety nozzle make it the Sterimar for small faces.

How to use

Lay the baby on their back with the head turned to one side, insert the nozzle gently into the upper nostril and press briefly; turn the head and repeat. Wipe away what comes out. Use two to six times a day while congested, and before feeds and bedtime. From 3 months; older children can use it sitting up.

Good to know

Drug-free, so it can be used as often as needed and alongside infant paracetamol or ibuprofen for a feverish cold. Call 111 for a baby under 3 months with a cold and a temperature of 38°C, or any child breathing fast or not feeding. For day-to-day hygiene without congestion, the isotonic daily spray is gentler.
