Product overview
About Pyrocalm Control
Omeprazole 20mg — the most widely used proton pump inhibitor in the country — for effective relief of heartburn and acid reflux. One gastro-resistant tablet daily reduces the acid your stomach makes and holds that control for up to 24 hours. 14 tablets from Dexcel Pharma.
When a PPI is the right choice
Antacids answer heartburn in minutes and fade in hours; a PPI takes a couple of days to reach full effect and then keeps acid production down all day. If heartburn has become a pattern rather than an occasional nuisance, that's the switch worth making — with an antacid kept alongside for breakthrough moments.
How to take
Adults 18+: one tablet daily, swallowed whole with water — don't chew or crush it, as the gastro-resistant coating is what gets it past stomach acid intact. Allow 2–3 days for full effect, over a course of up to 14 days.
Good to know
Omeprazole interacts with a number of medicines, clopidogrel among them — worth a pharmacist's check if you take anything regularly. Heartburn continuing past the 14-day course, difficulty swallowing or weight loss needs GP investigation.

Frequently asked questions
Omeprazole or esomeprazole?
Both are PPIs working the same way; esomeprazole (Nexium Control) is a refined version of omeprazole. In practice people find one suits them and stay with it.
Why can't I crush the tablet?
The gastro-resistant coating protects the medicine from stomach acid so it's absorbed further down. Crushing it destroys that.
How long can I take it?
Up to a 14-day course. Persisting heartburn should be investigated by a GP rather than treated indefinitely.
