Product overview

About Pirilieve Hayfever Relief

The once-a-day antihistamine that used to need a prescription: fexofenadine 120mg gives 24-hour relief from sneezing, a runny or itchy nose and itchy, watery eyes, and it's one of the least drowsy antihistamines available, which is why it was the GP's choice for years before it went general sale. Pirilieve is Haleon's own-brand version, from the Piriton family, at a sensible price. 30 tablets, a month's supply, for adults and children from 12.

Why fexofenadine

Cetirizine and loratadine work for most people; fexofenadine is the step up when they don't, or when drowsiness is a problem, because it barely crosses into the brain. Taken every morning through the pollen season it keeps symptoms suppressed rather than chasing them, and it pairs well with a steroid nasal spray such as Pirinase for a blocked nose.

How to take

Adults and children over 12: one tablet once a day with water, before a meal. Avoid fruit juice around the dose, as it reduces absorption. Not for under-12s.

Good to know

A few people do feel sleepy on it, so see how it affects you before driving. Ask a pharmacist first with kidney or liver problems, or in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Symptoms that don't settle on an antihistamine plus a nasal spray deserve a GP conversation. See our hayfever range.
