Plain water rehydrates slowly and sends much of itself straight through; water with the right electrolytes is absorbed faster and held longer, which is why oral rehydration works. Dissolve one tablet in 300 to 500ml of water and drink. One a day is the standard; a second is reasonable after heavy sweating or a long-haul flight. Not for children under 12.
