About Otrivine Adult Nasal Drops
The classic dropper-bottle decongestant: Otrivine's xylometazoline drops clear a blocked nose within minutes and keep it clear for up to ten hours, easing colds, sinusitis, hayfever and catarrh. Some people simply prefer drops to sprays — more control, no propellant blast — and this is the definitive version. 10ml.
How it unblocks
Congestion is swelling, not just mucus: the vessels lining your nose inflate until air can't pass. Xylometazoline constricts them directly, reopening the airway without touching the rest of your body — which is why topical decongestants act faster and at far smaller doses than tablets.
How to use
Adults and children 12+: 2–3 drops into each nostril up to three times daily. Tilt your head back, drop, then stay tilted a few seconds. Maximum 7 days' continuous use.
Good to know
The 7-day ceiling is the deal with all xylometazoline products — push past it and rebound congestion sets in. Blocked beyond a week? Saline rinses have no limit, and our pharmacist can look at why it's lingering. Caution with heart conditions, blood pressure and MAOI antidepressants.
