About Nexium Control

24-hour heartburn control from a single daily tablet: esomeprazole 20mg, a proton pump inhibitor that turns down stomach acid at the source instead of mopping it up afterwards. 28 gastro-resistant tablets — a full course and a spare fortnight.

How it differs from antacids

Antacids neutralise acid already made; Nexium Control stops the excess being produced. It takes 2–3 days to reach full effect, then holds acid down around the clock — the tool for frequent heartburn (2+ days a week), not the odd curry.

How to take

Adults: one tablet each morning, swallowed whole with water before food — don't chew or crush the gastro-resistant coating. Treat in courses of up to 14 days, stopping when symptoms have settled.

Good to know

Keep an antacid handy for the first couple of days while the effect builds. If you still need daily tablets after 14 days, if symptoms return the moment you stop, or if there's difficulty swallowing, weight loss or vomiting — that's GP territory, promptly.
