Product overview
About Migraitan
A true migraine medicine, not a painkiller: sumatriptan 50mg, the triptan doctors prescribe, available from the pharmacy for adults with diagnosed migraine. Two tablets — enough to treat an attack and, if it returns, its echo.
How a triptan differs
Migraine isn't just pain — it's a cascade of widened blood vessels and inflamed nerves. Sumatriptan reverses that cascade at source, easing the headache and the nausea and light sensitivity that ride with it. Painkillers blunt the signal; a triptan interrupts the attack.
How to take
Adults 18–65 with doctor-diagnosed migraine: one tablet, swallowed whole with water, as soon as the headache phase starts (not during aura). If the migraine comes back after easing, a second tablet can follow after 2 hours. Maximum 2 tablets in 24 hours.
Good to know
If sumatriptan does nothing at all for an attack, don't take the second tablet for the same attack — and if this headache is unlike your usual migraine, treat it as new and get medical advice. Frequent migraines deserve a GP plan, not more triptans.

Frequently asked questions
Can I take it for a bad headache?
No — sumatriptan is for diagnosed migraine only. For tension headache it does nothing useful and carries needless side effects.
When in the attack should I take it?
At the start of the headache phase. Taken during the aura (visual disturbance before pain) it works less well — wait for the pain to begin.
Can I combine it with painkillers?
Yes — ibuprofen or paracetamol can be added if needed. Never combine with another triptan or take more than 2 tablets in 24 hours.
