About Infacol
Infacol is the UK's best-known colic drops — a simeticone suspension that relieves and calms infant colic and griping pain, suitable from birth onwards. Given before each feed with the dose dropper included, it's free from sugar, alcohol and colourant. The 55ml bottle keeps you going through the weeks colic typically peaks.
How Infacol works
Colicky discomfort is often trapped wind: lots of tiny gas bubbles a baby can't bring up. Simeticone gently merges those small bubbles into bigger ones that are easier to burp out. It works only in the gut and isn't absorbed into your baby's body — which is why it can be used from day one.
How to give it
Give one dropper dose directly into your baby's mouth before every feed, using the dropper supplied — it goes down easily. Infacol works progressively: keep giving it before each feed for several days to see its full effect, rather than judging it on the first dose.
What is colic?
Colic is intense, hard-to-soothe crying in an otherwise healthy, well-fed baby — classically more than 3 hours a day, more than 3 days a week, often in the evenings, usually starting in the first weeks and settling by around 4 months. If your baby seems unwell, isn't feeding or gaining weight, or your instinct says it's more than colic, see your GP or health visitor.

Frequently asked questions
How do you give Infacol?
One dropper dose straight into your baby's mouth before every feed, using the dropper in the pack. Before the feed matters — it works on the wind created during feeding.
How long does Infacol take to work?
It builds progressively — give it before each feed for several days to see the full effect rather than judging the first dose. Many parents notice easier burping within a few days.
Does Infacol cause constipation?
Simeticone isn't absorbed into the body — it acts only on gas bubbles in the gut and passes through unchanged — so it isn't a recognised cause of constipation. If your baby's bowel habits worry you, mention it to your health visitor.
Does Infacol help with reflux?
No — it's for colic and trapped wind. Reflux (frequent effortless spit-up, discomfort during or after feeds) is a different problem; speak to your GP or health visitor about it.
Infacol or gripe water?
Infacol is simeticone given before feeds and suitable from birth; gripe water is given after feeds and typically not before 1 month. Many parents start with Infacol precisely because it can be used from day one.
What actually is colic?
Intense, hard-to-soothe crying in an otherwise healthy baby — classically over 3 hours a day, 3+ days a week, often evenings, settling by around 4 months. It's exhausting but harmless; see a GP if your baby also seems unwell or feeds poorly.
