About Hycosan Original

Preservative-free sodium hyaluronate 0.1% for dry, irritated eyes — the same hyaluronate that holds water in skin, doing the same job on the eye surface. The COMOD bottle delivers around 225 drops without a single preservative, and stays usable for six months after opening. 7.5ml from Scope Eyecare.

Why preservative-free matters

Preservatives in multi-dose bottles are irritants in their own right, which is a problem when you're using drops several times a day on an already-sore eye. Hycosan's one-way valve keeps the bottle sterile without them — so frequent use doesn't gradually make the irritation worse. Safe with contact lenses in.

How to use

Prime the bottle before the first use, then apply one drop into each eye as often as needed. Around 225 drops per bottle, and good for six months after opening — far better value than the four-week life of most preservative-free options.

Good to know

If dryness is severe, worse in the mornings, or your lids are crusty and inflamed, that's likely blepharitis — lid hygiene will do more than drops alone. Eye pain or vision changes need same-day assessment.
