After the menopause the vaginal lining thins and dries because oestrogen has gone. Moisturisers and lubricants ease the moment; Gina restores the tissue itself with a dose so small and so local that very little reaches the rest of the body. It's the treatment GPs have prescribed for years, now available to women 50 and over after a pharmacist's check.

One tablet into the vagina daily for the first two weeks, then one tablet twice a week — at bedtime is easiest. Insert using the applicator as the leaflet shows. Improvement builds over the first weeks; if symptoms haven't improved after three months, see your GP.

Gina is for women aged 50 and over whose periods stopped at least a year ago. Any vaginal bleeding or spotting during treatment needs a doctor, and long-term use should be reviewed with a GP yearly.
