Product overview

About Essentials Kids Nasal Spray

Gentle saline that clears a baby's blocked nose naturally: a fine mist of salt water loosens dried mucus so it can be wiped or suctioned away, and a baby who can breathe through the nose can feed and sleep. Drug-free, suitable from birth, and usable as often as needed. 15ml.

Why saline first

Babies breathe through the nose and can't blow it, so a cold blocks feeding before anything else. Decongestant medicines aren't licensed for babies; saline is what the NHS suggests instead, because it thins the mucus without any drug reaching the child. Used before a feed and before bed, it does most of the work of a snuffly week.

How to use

Hold the baby upright or with the head slightly back, one gentle spray into each nostril, wait a moment, then wipe the nose or use a nasal aspirator. Repeat before feeds and at bedtime, or whenever the nose sounds blocked.

Good to know

One bottle per child, wipe the nozzle after use and discard three months after opening. If a baby is struggling to feed or breathe, has a fever, or is under three months and unwell, see a GP or call 111. See our children's cough and cold range.
