Always read the label and patient information leaflet before use. Ask our pharmacist if you're unsure whether this product is right for you.
Contains a local anaesthetic
Lidocaine can occasionally cause sensitivity with prolonged use. Stop if the area becomes more irritated, and do not use for longer than the label allows.
Always get rectal bleeding checked
Never assume bleeding is piles. Bleeding, a change in bowel habit, a lump or unexplained weight loss must be assessed by a GP — the same symptoms can have far more serious causes.
Stop after 7 days
If symptoms have not improved within 7 days, see your GP or pharmacist rather than continuing.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Piles are common in pregnancy — check with your midwife, pharmacist or GP before using any treatment.

Product overview

About Care Haemorrhoid Relief Ointment

Double action, sensible price: allantoin to promote healing and lidocaine hydrochloride to relieve the pain, for effective relief from haemorrhoids and piles. 25g — the own-brand that does the same job as the names you know.

Allantoin and lidocaine, and what each does

Lidocaine is the local anaesthetic that numbs the pain and itching quickly. Allantoin is a skin-repair agent that softens damaged tissue and promotes healing — useful, because piles are frequently accompanied by small painful tears in already-irritated skin. One treats the symptom, the other the damage.

How to use

Cleanse the area and pat dry, then apply as directed on the pack, typically morning and night and after each bowel movement.

Good to know

See your GP if symptoms persist beyond 7 days. Any rectal bleeding, lump, or change in bowel habit must be assessed — never assume. Fibre, fluids, and not straining will prevent more piles than any ointment will treat.
