Product overview
About Care Decongestant Tablets
The plain decongestant: pseudoephedrine 60mg on its own, with no painkiller and no antihistamine, for a blocked nose, sinus congestion and the stuffed-up chest of a cold, flu or hay fever. Non-drowsy, sucrose-free, and the pharmacy-generic equivalent of Sudafed Decongestant tablets. 12 tablets, pharmacy-only.
Why plain pseudoephedrine
Most cold remedies bundle a decongestant with paracetamol you may not need, or with an antihistamine that sends you to sleep. A single-ingredient tablet lets you add what you want: paracetamol for aches, a non-drowsy antihistamine for hay fever, nothing at all for a plain blocked nose. And pseudoephedrine is the decongestant that actually opens the nose, which is why it's behind the counter and the phenylephrine ones aren't.
How to take
Adults and children over 12: one tablet up to four times a day, no more than four in 24 hours. Not for under-12s. Don't take with any other decongestant or cold and flu product containing pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine. Avoid a dose late in the evening if it keeps you awake. If congestion lasts more than a week, see a pharmacist or GP.
Good to know
Not suitable with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, severe kidney disease or within 14 days of an MAOI antidepressant; the questionnaire checks each. Stop and seek urgent help for a sudden severe headache, confusion, seizures or vision changes. Twelve tablets is the legal maximum of pseudoephedrine per sale, so one pack per order. Pharmacist-reviewed before dispatch.
