Product overview
About Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule
The single-capsule thrush treatment: fluconazole 150mg, one swallow, working from the inside to clear the infection at its cause. No creams, no pessaries, no applicators — one capsule with water, any time of day.
How it works
Fluconazole is an antifungal that circulates through the body, stopping the Candida yeast behind thrush from rebuilding its cell walls. Symptoms — itching, soreness, discharge — typically settle over 1–3 days as the infection dies back.
How to take
Adults 16–60: swallow the capsule whole with water, with or without food. If symptoms haven't improved within 3 days, or haven't gone within 7, see a pharmacist or GP — it may not be thrush.
Good to know
External soothing can be added with Canesten cream while the capsule works. Recurrent thrush — more than twice in six months — needs a GP's eyes rather than another capsule, and the questionnaire checks medicines that clash with fluconazole, including warfarin.

Frequently asked questions
Capsule or pessary?
Both clear thrush. The capsule wins on convenience; the pessary acts locally and suits anyone avoiding oral antifungals. Symptom relief speed is similar.
Can my partner take it too?
Male partners with symptoms (itching, redness) are usually treated with cream rather than the capsule — ask our pharmacist.
Is it OK in pregnancy?
No — oral fluconazole isn't recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding without medical advice. Speak to your midwife or GP for the right option.
