Product overview
About Canesten Thrush Internal Cream
The single-dose alternative to a pessary: 5g of clotrimazole 10% cream in a pre-filled applicator, inserted once at bedtime to treat the cause of vaginal thrush overnight. For women who find pessaries uncomfortable, or who'd rather a cream that spreads and coats than a tablet that has to dissolve. One applicator, pharmacy-only.
Cream or pessary
Both deliver a single high dose of clotrimazole to where the yeast is and both clear uncomplicated thrush in most women within a few days. The internal cream is softer on sore, dry tissue and easier to insert; the pessary is less messy. Either pairs with Canesten Thrush External Cream for the itching outside.
How to use
At bedtime, lying on your back with knees bent, insert the applicator as deep as is comfortable and press the plunger to release the cream. Some leakage the next day is normal; a panty liner helps. If symptoms haven't cleared, a second dose can be used, but if there's no improvement after seven days, see a GP. Not during a period.
Good to know
For women aged 16 to 60 who have had thrush diagnosed before. A first episode, more than two episodes in six months, pregnancy, diabetes, or any bleeding, ulcers, pain, fever or smelly discharge need a GP. It weakens latex condoms and diaphragms for five days. Pharmacist-reviewed before dispatch.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to work?
Symptoms usually ease within a day or two and clear within a week. A second dose can be used if needed; no improvement after seven days means a GP visit.
Internal cream or pessary?
Same medicine, same single dose. The cream is gentler on sore tissue and easier to insert; the pessary leaks less. Both can be paired with the external cream.
Can I use it when pregnant?
Only under a doctor's supervision, and without the applicator. Ask your GP or midwife rather than buying it.
