The standard 150ml bottle — the size most households know.

The everyday bottle

150ml is the classic Buttercup: enough to see one adult through a cold with doses to spare, small enough to sit on the bedside table without looming. If it's your first bottle, this is the one to start with; regulars with a house full of coughs step up to the 200ml.

How to take

Take by the spoonful as directed on the pack, repeating through the day as needed. Non-drowsy, so fine for work and driving. Check the label for the minimum age and children's doses.

Good to know

Contains sugar — diabetics should factor it in. A cough that runs past three weeks, brings up blood, or comes with breathlessness or chest pain needs a GP, not a bigger bottle.
