Product overview

About Buccastem M

The original buccal anti-sickness tablet for migraine: Buccastem M is prochlorperazine 3mg in a tablet that dissolves slowly between the upper lip and gum, so it's absorbed through the mouth and works even when a migraine has you too sick to keep a swallowed tablet down. For the nausea and vomiting of migraine in adults 18 and over with a diagnosis from a doctor. 8 tablets.

Why buccal

Migraine slows the stomach, so ordinary anti-sickness tablets sit unabsorbed or come straight back. A buccal tablet bypasses the stomach entirely. Taken early in an attack it settles the sickness, which means the painkiller you take alongside actually stays down and gets absorbed.

How to take

Adults 18 and over: one or two tablets twice a day. Place the tablet high up between your top lip and gum and leave it to dissolve, which takes an hour or so; don't chew, suck or swallow it, and avoid eating or drinking until it's gone. No more than four tablets a day, and no more than two days per attack.

Good to know

Only for migraine already diagnosed: a first severe headache with sickness, or one with a stiff neck, rash, confusion or weakness, needs urgent medical help. Prochlorperazine can cause drowsiness, so no driving or alcohol. Not with Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, liver problems, glaucoma, prostate enlargement or in pregnancy; the questionnaire covers these. Pharmacist-reviewed before dispatch.
