When you need the antibiotic
Most conjunctivitis is viral and clears on its own; the bacterial kind produces thick yellow or green discharge and stuck-together lashes, and that's what chloramphenicol treats. Brolene's propamidine drops handle milder, earlier infections; if two days of those haven't helped, or the discharge is obvious from the start, this is the next step.
How to use
One drop into the affected eye every two hours while awake for the first two days, then every four hours, for five days in total. Wash hands before and after, keep the dropper off the eye, and finish the course even once the eye looks clear. Discard the bottle after the course.
