About Benacort 64 Nasal Spray

The pharmacy version of Benacort: budesonide 64 micrograms per spray, a corticosteroid nasal spray for the prevention and relief of hayfever in adults 18 and over, covering nasal congestion, runny and itchy nose and sneezing. One spray in each nostril once or twice a day. 120 sprays, enough for two months at the once-daily dose.

Why budesonide

Budesonide is one of the most-studied nasal steroids, with a long safety record and very little absorption into the body at this dose. It calms the inflammation that pollen triggers in the nose lining, so it prevents the blocked, streaming nose that antihistamine tablets alone can leave behind. Non-drowsy, and it works alongside a tablet on bad days.

How to use

Adults 18 and over: shake the bottle, blow your nose, then one spray into each nostril once a day in the morning, or twice a day (morning and evening) when symptoms are worse. Aim slightly outwards. Start a week or two before your season if you can; full effect takes a few days. Use the lowest dose that keeps you clear.

Good to know

Not for under-18s. Don't use continuously for more than three months without advice, or with a nasal infection or recent nose surgery. Tell the pharmacist if you use other steroid medicines, have had glaucoma or cataracts, or are pregnant. Nosebleeds and nasal dryness are the usual side effects. Pharmacist-reviewed before dispatch.
