Product overview

About Anadin Extra

Three painkillers in one caplet: aspirin 300mg for pain and inflammation, paracetamol 200mg for pain and fever, and caffeine 45mg, which makes both work harder and lifts the fog that comes with a bad headache. For headache, migraine, toothache, period pain, muscular aches, sprains and feverish colds in adults and over-16s. The 32 pack is pharmacy-only.

Why three ingredients

Aspirin and paracetamol relieve pain by different routes, and caffeine has been shown to boost the effect of both, which is why the combination out-performs either alone on the headaches that shrug off a plain painkiller. Because it contains aspirin, Anadin Extra is for over-16s only and isn't for anyone with a stomach ulcer or on blood thinners.

How to take

Adults and over-16s: two caplets with water every four hours as needed, no more than eight in 24 hours, with or after food. Not for under-16s, and not for migraine in under-18s. If pain lasts more than three days, see a pharmacist or GP.

Good to know

Don't take with any other paracetamol, aspirin or anti-inflammatory product; a paracetamol overdose can damage the liver before you feel ill. Avoid alcohol and go easy on coffee and energy drinks. Not in the last three months of pregnancy or when breastfeeding. Ask a pharmacist first with asthma, kidney or liver problems, or if you're over 65. Pharmacist-reviewed before dispatch.
