Product overview
About Actifed Tablets
The original decongestant-antihistamine tablet: pseudoephedrine 60mg to unblock sinuses and a stuffy nose and clear catarrh, with triprolidine to dry a streaming nose, whether the cause is a cold, flu or allergic rhinitis. Pharmacy-only, for adults and children over 12. 12 tablets.
Why pseudoephedrine
General-sale decongestant tablets have switched to phenylephrine, which many people find does little. Pseudoephedrine is the decongestant that works, and it's kept behind the pharmacy counter for that reason. Actifed pairs it with an antihistamine so the nose stops running as well as opening up.
How to take
Adults and children over 12: one tablet every four to six hours, up to four tablets in 24 hours. Not for under-12s. Don't take with any other cold, flu or decongestant product, and if symptoms haven't settled within a week, see a pharmacist or GP.
Good to know
Triprolidine can cause drowsiness, so no driving or alcohol until you know how it affects you. Not suitable with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, severe kidney disease or within 14 days of an MAOI antidepressant; the questionnaire checks each of these. Pseudoephedrine is limited to one pack per order.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Sudafed?
Both use pseudoephedrine 60mg. Actifed adds triprolidine, an antihistamine, so it also dries a runny nose — and can cause drowsiness where plain Sudafed doesn't.
Can I take it with paracetamol?
Yes — it contains no painkiller. Don't take it with any other decongestant, cold or flu product.
Why only one pack?
Twelve tablets is the legal maximum of pseudoephedrine per sale, and our checkout applies that limit across all pseudoephedrine products.
