Ear pain after flying
Product overview
About Quies Air Travel Ear Plugs
For the descent that makes your ears ache. These Quies plugs contain a ceramic pressure filter that slows the rate of pressure change against the eardrum during take-off and landing, easing the painful blocked sensation that catches so many people out. Curved tip for a comfortable fit. One reusable pair.
Why flying hurts your ears
Cabin pressure changes fast; the air behind your eardrum equalises slowly through the Eustachian tube. The gap between the two is what you feel as pressure, pain and muffled hearing — and it's much worse with a cold or blocked nose, when that tube is already congested.
How to use
Insert before take-off and keep them in through the climb, then reinsert before the descent begins — not once your ears already hurt. Reusable; keep them clean between flights.
Good to know
Swallowing, yawning and chewing all help equalise pressure alongside the plugs. If you're flying with a heavy cold, a decongestant beforehand may help — ask our pharmacist. Severe or lasting ear pain after a flight should be checked.

Frequently asked questions
When should I put them in?
Before take-off, and again before the descent starts — not after your ears already hurt. Prevention is the whole point.
Do they block out noise as well?
Their job is regulating pressure rather than blocking sound. For sleep or noise, wax or foam plugs suit better.
I'm flying with a cold — will they be enough?
A blocked nose makes ear pain much worse. Ask our pharmacist about a decongestant to use alongside them.
