About Potter's Chesty Cough Pastilles
A pastille you suck rather than a syrup you swallow: Potter's Chesty Cough Pastilles release menthol, dwarf pine oil and eucalyptus oil as they dissolve, and the vapour eases the catarrh and tightness of a chesty cough. Non-drowsy and pocket-sized, from a herbal house that has been making cough remedies since 1812. 20 pastilles.
Why a pastille
The oils do their work as vapour rising from the back of the mouth, so a pastille reaches the airways in a way a swallowed dose doesn't, and it keeps going for the ten minutes it takes to dissolve. Handy at a desk, on a train or in bed, where a spoon of syrup isn't.
How to use
Suck one pastille slowly as needed, keeping to the maximum number a day stated on the pack. For adults and older children; check the pack for the minimum age.
Good to know
A cough lasting more than three weeks, or with breathlessness, chest pain or blood, needs a GP. Hard pastilles are a choking risk for young children. For a cough with thick mucus, see Potter's Mucus Cough Pastilles.

Frequently asked questions
Chesty or Mucus pastilles?
Same three oils; Chesty is positioned for catarrh and a tight chest, Mucus for a cough that brings up thick phlegm. Either soothes.
Can I use them with cough syrup?
Yes, they're inhalant oils rather than a drug dose, so they sit alongside a syrup. Don't exceed the pack maximum.
Are they sugar free?
Check the pack; pastilles typically contain sugar, so allow for it with diabetes.
