Product overview

About Dioralyte Blackcurrant

Dioralyte is the UK's standard oral rehydration therapy: sachets of glucose and electrolyte powder that replace the water and body salts diarrhoea strips out — faster and better than water alone. The blackcurrant flavour makes it drinkable when you feel dreadful. This is the 20-sachet pack, enough to see a household through a proper bout.

Why not just drink water?

Diarrhoea drains sodium, potassium and fluid together; plain water replaces only the fluid, and can't be absorbed efficiently without the right glucose-salt balance. Dioralyte's formula matches the clinical rehydration standard, pulling fluid back into the body fast — the reason it's what pharmacists reach for first in gastro season.

How to use

Dissolve one sachet in 200ml of fresh drinking water (cooled boiled water for children) — never in juice or squash, and don't re-dilute. Adults: 1–2 sachets after every loose motion. Children over 2: one sachet after each loose motion; under 2s and babies need medical advice first. Use the solution within an hour, or 24 hours refrigerated.

When to get help

See a doctor if diarrhoea lasts more than 48 hours (24 in children), there's blood, high fever, or signs of serious dehydration — drowsiness, sunken eyes, little or no urine. Babies, frail elderly people and anyone who can't keep fluid down need advice early.
