About Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture

The strong dark stuff: Covonia's mentholated mixture has been clearing troublesome chesty coughs since 1968 with squill, liquorice and a levomenthol hit you can feel on the way down. Non-drowsy, unmistakably Covonia. 150ml.

Why people swear by the menthol wallop

Squill and liquorice are traditional expectorants that help loosen phlegm, but it's the mentholated vapour rising through the airways that gives Covonia its cult following — the immediate sense of a chest opening up. Gentler syrups exist; this isn't trying to be one.

How to take

Adults and children 12+: dose per the pack, up to four times daily. The taste is strong — that's rather the point.

Good to know

Contains sugar — the Sugar Free version suits diabetics better. A cough past 3 weeks, blood, chest pain or breathlessness needs a GP.
