Wax isn't the enemy

Ear wax is protective — it traps dust, repels water and keeps the canal healthy, and most ears clear it perfectly well on their own. Drops are for when that self-cleaning process falls behind and wax hardens into a plug that muffles hearing. If your ears aren't blocked, leave them be.

How to use

Lie with the affected ear uppermost, apply the drops as directed on the pack, and stay still for a few minutes so they can work down the canal. Continue for the course on the label.

Good to know

Not with a perforated eardrum or grommets. If the ear stays blocked after a full course, a pharmacist or ear clinic can look properly — and please, no cotton buds.
