About Bonjela
Britain's mouth ulcer gel: Bonjela's double action pairs choline salicylate, which relieves the pain, with cetalkonium chloride, an antiseptic that targets the swelling and infection around the ulcer. It clings to the sore spot so it keeps working while you get on with eating and talking. The Cool Mint version adds a fresh, cooling taste to the same double-action formula. Adults 16 and over, 15g.
Why cool mint
The original Bonjela has a distinctive medicinal flavour some people never took to. Cool Mint keeps the identical actives — same pain relief, same antiseptic action — with a cooling minty taste that also leaves the mouth feeling fresher after application. Otherwise, it's Bonjela.
How to use
Dry the area if you can, then massage about a centimetre of gel onto the ulcer with a clean fingertip. Repeat as directed on the pack — not more often than the stated interval. Adults and children 16 and over only.
Good to know
The 16+ rule is there because of the salicylate — use Bonjela Junior for younger mouths. Anyone allergic to aspirin should avoid it. An ulcer lasting more than three weeks, or one that keeps returning, needs a dentist or GP.

Why is Bonjela adult gel 16+?
It contains choline salicylate, an aspirin-type ingredient, which is not given to under-16s because of the rare risk of Reye's syndrome. Bonjela Junior is the under-16 version.
How often can I apply it?
As the pack directs, with the stated gap between applications. A small amount massaged into the ulcer is enough — more doesn't work faster.
Cool Mint or original — any difference in strength?
None — identical actives and strength. Cool Mint simply tastes minty and cooling rather than medicinal.
