About Bisodol

Triple relief in a chewable tablet: Bisodol combines three antacids — calcium carbonate, light magnesium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate — to neutralise excess stomach acid fast, easing acid indigestion, trapped wind and heartburn. The original peppermint flavour has been settling British stomachs for generations. 60 tablets.

Why three antacids

Sodium bicarbonate works in seconds, calcium carbonate is strong and lasting, and magnesium carbonate balances the constipating tendency of calcium. Chewing the tablet gets the neutralising started in the mouth and gullet before it reaches the stomach — quicker than swallowing a tablet whole, and handier than a bottle.

How to take

Chew one or two tablets as directed on the pack when symptoms strike, typically after meals and at bedtime, and don't exceed the daily maximum. Check the pack for the minimum age.

Good to know

Antacids can affect the absorption of other medicines — leave a couple of hours either side. Contains sodium, so check with a pharmacist on a low-salt diet or with kidney problems. Heartburn most days for three weeks, difficulty swallowing, or unexplained weight loss means a GP appointment.
