Contains aspirin
Not for under-16s (Reye's syndrome risk). Ask a pharmacist first if you have stomach ulcers, a bleeding disorder, aspirin-sensitive asthma, take anticoagulants, or are pregnant.
Contains paracetamol
Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing product. Never exceed the stated dose — overdose can cause serious liver damage.
Contains caffeine
Go easy on tea, coffee and energy drinks while taking it — too much caffeine causes jitteriness, poor sleep and palpitations.
High sodium — effervescent
Effervescent tablets carry a lot of sodium. Check with a pharmacist if you're on a low-salt diet or have heart, kidney or blood-pressure conditions.

The extra-strength edition: Alka-Seltzer XS pairs aspirin with paracetamol for double-action pain relief, then adds caffeine to sharpen the effect and lift the fog. Effervescent, so it dissolves in water and works fast — for the headaches, aches and heavy heads a single painkiller doesn't shift. 20 tablets.

Why double action

Aspirin and paracetamol relieve pain by different routes, so together they cover more ground than either alone. Caffeine is the well-studied third wheel: it boosts how well painkillers work and counters the sluggishness that often travels with a bad head. All three arrive in solution, already dissolved, for a quick start.

How to take

Dissolve fully in a glass of water and drink. Follow the pack for dose and spacing; don't exceed the 24-hour maximum. Adults and children over 16 only.

Good to know

It contains paracetamol — never double up with other paracetamol products. Aspirin cautions apply (not under 16; ulcers, bleeding disorders, aspirin-sensitive asthma, anticoagulants). Ease off the coffee while you're taking it, and note the sodium if you're on a low-salt diet.
