Why dab, not scratch

Applied promptly, the classic ammonia-based formula calms the itch so bites get left alone to settle. That matters: scratched bites stay inflamed longer and are the ones that end up infected. One pen sees a family through walks, barbecues and a fortnight abroad.

How to use

Dab onto the bite or sting as soon as possible and rub in gently; repeat if the itch returns. External use on unbroken skin only — avoid eyes and mouth, and wash hands after use.

Good to know

For wasp or bee stings, flick out the sting first. Any sign of serious allergy — spreading swelling, breathing difficulty, dizziness — is a 999 call, not a dab-on. Bites that blister badly or look infected deserve a pharmacist's opinion.
