Product overview

About Acnecide

The leave-on acne treatment pharmacists reach for first: Acnecide's 5% w/w benzoyl peroxide gel kills up to 95% of the bacteria that cause spots within seven days, and keeps working daily to unblock pores, blackheads and whiteheads. A little goes a long way — 15g tube.

Why benzoyl peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide is the best-evidenced over-the-counter acne active there is: it clears spot-causing bacteria without breeding antibiotic resistance, and helps skin shed the plugs that become blackheads. UK dermatology guidance names it first-line for mild acne and breakouts.

How to use

Start once daily: cleanse, dry, then smooth a thin layer over the whole affected area — not just individual spots. Build up to twice daily if your skin tolerates it. Some dryness or peeling in the first fortnight is normal; a light moisturiser smooths the ride.

Good to know

Two golden rules: it bleaches (keep it off coloured towels, pillowcases and dyed hair) and it raises sun sensitivity (wear daily SPF). Give it a full four to six weeks. Acne that is severe, painful or scarring should see a pharmacist or GP.
