Bleaches fabric and hair — avoid eyes and sun
Benzoyl peroxide bleaches hair, towels, bedding and coloured clothing on contact; wash hands after use. Keep away from eyes, mouth, nostrils and broken skin. Skin becomes more sun-sensitive: use SPF 30 or higher and avoid sunbeds.
Some dryness and peeling is normal
Mild redness, dryness, stinging and peeling are common in the first weeks; use once daily or on alternate days until the skin settles. Stop and seek advice if swelling, blistering or severe irritation develops. Don't combine with other benzoyl peroxide products without advice.

About Acnecide 5% Gel

The leave-on acne gel pharmacists reach for first: benzoyl peroxide 5%, clinically proven to kill up to 95% of the bacteria that cause spots within seven days, while unblocking the pores that turn into blackheads and whiteheads. A thin layer once or twice a day over the whole spot-prone area, and most people see the difference within a few weeks. The 60g tube: enough for the face plus a spotty back or chest, or a full course for one area.

Why benzoyl peroxide

Bacteria can't become resistant to it, which is why GPs and dermatologists still start with benzoyl peroxide before antibiotics. Five percent is the balance point: strong enough to clear spots, mild enough to use every day once the skin has settled.

How to use

Wash and dry the skin, then apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily. Sensitive skin: once a day at bedtime to start. Expect a little dryness, redness or peeling in the first weeks; ease off to alternate days if it stings. Allow four to six weeks for a fair trial.

Good to know

Keep away from eyes, mouth, nostrils and broken skin. It bleaches hair, towels and fabrics, so use white bedding and wash hands after use. Skin becomes more sun-sensitive: use SPF 30 or more.
