How does Biofreeze work?

Menthol activates cold receptors in the skin, which block pain signals travelling to the brain — the same mechanism as icing, starting within minutes and lasting longer.

Biofreeze or Deep Freeze — what's the difference?

Both are menthol cold-therapy gels; Biofreeze is the higher-strength clinic brand physios tend to use. If a standard freeze gel hasn't touched it, this is the step up.

Cold or heat for back pain?

Cold for the first day or two of a fresh strain and for anything swollen; heat for chronic stiffness and tension. Alternating works well for stubborn backs.

How often can I apply it?

Up to 3–4 times a day in a thin layer, massaged in. Wash your hands after — menthol and eyes are a bad combination.

How cold therapy works
