Always get rectal bleeding checked
Never assume bleeding is piles. Bleeding, a change in bowel habit, a lump or unexplained weight loss must be assessed by a GP — the same symptoms can have far more serious causes.

When you need a suppository

Internal piles sit above the anal margin. Cream applied outside will soothe the surrounding skin but leaves the actual haemorrhoid untouched — which is exactly why people find weeks of ointment disappointing. A suppository dissolves against the affected tissue itself.

How to use

Insert one suppository as directed on the pack, typically at night, in the morning and after each bowel movement. Lying on your side with knees drawn up makes it considerably easier.

Good to know

See your GP if there's no improvement within 7 days, and always for rectal bleeding. If you want the anti-inflammatory version, Anusol Soothing Relief adds hydrocortisone — with tighter limits on who can use it and for how long.
