Product overview
About Anusol Ointment
The original, and still the one most people picture. Anusol's three-way action shrinks piles, relieves discomfort and soothes itching, calming irritation and relieving sore, cracked skin — through astringents rather than anaesthetics or steroids. 25g.
How the astringent approach works
Zinc oxide and the bismuth salts tighten and shrink swollen tissue while forming a protective barrier over damaged skin, and balsam Peru soothes. It's a gentler mechanism than a local anaesthetic — less instant, but well tolerated, and it addresses the swelling rather than just masking the feeling of it.
How to use
Cleanse the area and pat dry, then apply as directed on the pack — typically at night, in the morning and after each bowel movement. For external use only.
Good to know
If symptoms haven't improved within 7 days, see your GP. Rectal bleeding always needs assessing. If the piles are internal rather than external, suppositories will reach them where an ointment cannot.

Frequently asked questions
How does Anusol differ from Germoloids?
Anusol uses astringents to shrink swollen tissue; Germoloids adds a local anaesthetic for faster pain relief. Different mechanisms, both effective.
Ointment or suppositories?
Ointment for external piles. If yours are internal, suppositories reach where an ointment cannot.
How long should I use it?
See your GP if symptoms haven't improved within 7 days.
