Product overview

About Anusol Plus HC Suppositories

Anusol's four-way action with hydrocortisone added: each suppository delivers hydrocortisone acetate 10mg to reduce inflammation, plus the zinc oxide, bismuth and balsam of Peru that soothe itching, shrink swollen tissue and protect. For internal piles and the itching around the back passage that comes with them, in adults 18 and over. 12 suppositories, pharmacy-only.

Why a suppository

Cream and ointment reach the outside and just inside; a suppository melts where internal piles actually sit, so the anti-inflammatory works on the swelling from within. Many people use both: the ointment for external soreness by day and a suppository at night.

How to use

Adults 18 and over: remove the wrapper and insert one suppository, pointed end first, at night, in the morning and after each bowel movement, up to three a day. Wash hands before and after. Use for no more than seven days.

Good to know

Hydrocortisone shouldn't be used for longer than a week, with a fungal, viral or other infection in the area, or in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Any bleeding from the back passage, piles for the first time, or symptoms not improving after seven days need a GP. Keep stools soft with fibre and water so the piles aren't strained. Pharmacist-reviewed before dispatch.
