About the Braun ThermoScan 6
The ThermoScan 6 is the home version of the ear thermometer brand used by more doctors than any other. Its ExacTemp stability indicator confirms the probe is positioned right, the pre-warmed tip protects accuracy (cold tips cool the ear canal and under-read), and the colour-coded display turns green, yellow or red so a 2am reading needs no interpretation.

How to use
Fit a fresh lens filter, gently straighten the ear canal (pull the ear up and back for adults, straight back for babies), insert snugly, press — beep, colour, done. Suitable from 6 months; ear readings under 6 months are unreliable, so use a digital stick thermometer for newborns.
When is it a fever?
38°C or above counts as fever. See a doctor urgently for any fever in a baby under 3 months, fever with a non-fading rash, stiff neck, breathing difficulty, or a child who's drowsy or inconsolable.

Why does the tip need to be warm?

Can I use it on a baby?
From 6 months, yes — pull the ear gently straight back for a snug fit. Under 6 months, ear canals are too small for reliable readings; use a digital stick thermometer instead.

Yes — they keep the sensor accurate and hygienic between users. The unit comes with filters; replacements are cheap and widely available.
