Product overview

About the A&D Medical UA-611 Blood Pressure Monitor

The UA-611 is a clinically validated upper arm blood pressure monitor from A&D Medical — the Japanese firm whose meters GPs and pharmacies actually use. One button, big digits: systolic, diastolic and pulse, with a colour risk-level bar that tells you at a glance where the reading sits, an irregular heartbeat indicator, and memory for the last 30 readings.

Why home blood pressure monitoring matters

High blood pressure has no symptoms — the first sign is too often the stroke or heart attack it caused. Home readings also dodge 'white coat syndrome', giving your GP a truer picture than one nervous surgery reading. NICE actively recommends home monitoring for diagnosing and managing hypertension; upper arm cuffs like this one are the accurate kind.

How to measure properly

Sit quietly for 5 minutes, feet flat, arm rested at heart height. Wrap the cuff on a bare upper arm, press START, stay still. Take two readings a minute apart, morning and evening for a week, and bring the numbers (memory helps) to your GP or pharmacist rather than reacting to any single reading.

Understanding the numbers

As a broad guide: under 135/85 at home is normal; consistently above it is worth discussing; 180/120 or higher with symptoms is urgent. One high reading means re-measure calmly, not panic.
