Product overview

About Spatone Liquid Iron

Spatone is iron the way Wales has been drinking it for 200 years: naturally iron-rich spa water from Trefriw Wells, sealed into 28 one-a-day sachets. Each 20ml “iron shot” delivers ferrous iron (Fe2+) — the form the body absorbs most readily — and iron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal energy-yielding metabolism and normal immune function. Food supplement, 560ml total (28 × 20ml).

Why liquid iron, and why so gentle

Iron tablets are notorious for constipation and stomach upset — the single most-searched worry about iron supplements. Spatone's selling point is the opposite reputation: a low but highly absorbable dose of iron in water, gentle on the stomach and easily absorbed, which is why midwives have recommended it for decades. Less iron, better taken up, fewer complaints from your gut.

How to take

One sachet daily, ideally on an empty stomach — first thing works well. Vitamin C boosts iron absorption, so taking it in a small glass of orange juice is the classic method (it also softens the mineral taste). Tea and coffee do the reverse — leave a gap.

Good to know

Ongoing exhaustion, breathlessness or pale skin deserve a GP visit and a blood test — don't self-diagnose anaemia. If you're pregnant, follow the pack's guidance and your midwife's advice on daily amounts.
