About Corsodyl Mint Mouthwash
Corsodyl 0.2% is the medicated mouthwash dentists reach for when gums actually need treating — chlorhexidine digluconate at treatment strength for bleeding gums, gum inflammation, mouth ulcers and oral hygiene around dental work. This is the fresh mint flavour, 300ml. It's a short-course gum treatment, not an everyday freshener.
Why chlorhexidine is different
Cosmetic mouthwashes mask; chlorhexidine binds to oral surfaces and keeps killing plaque bacteria for hours — the reason it's the gold-standard antiseptic for gingivitis and post-dental-surgery care. Bleeding when you brush is the classic sign gums need it.
How to use
Rinse with 10ml for one minute, twice daily, and spit out. Leave a 30-minute gap after normal toothpaste (toothpaste ingredients deactivate chlorhexidine). Use for as long as your dentist advises — typically courses of up to about four weeks.
Good to know
Chlorhexidine can temporarily stain teeth and alter taste with longer use — staining brushes or polishes off and taste returns after the course. Bleeding gums that don't settle within a few weeks need a dentist, not endless mouthwash.

Frequently asked questions
Why are my gums bleeding?
Usually gingivitis — plaque bacteria inflaming the gum line. It's reversible with proper cleaning plus an antiseptic like Corsodyl; ignored, it can progress to gum disease that costs teeth.
Why the 30-minute gap after toothpaste?
Common toothpaste ingredients deactivate chlorhexidine — brush, wait half an hour, then rinse. Order matters more than most people realise.
Does Corsodyl stain teeth?
With longer courses it can cause brown surface staining and taste changes — both temporary. Staining brushes off or is polished away at the dentist; it's the trade-off for treatment strength.
Can I use it every day forever?
No — it's a treatment course, typically up to four weeks. Gums still bleeding after that deserve a dental appointment rather than another bottle.
