What is Tampax?
Tampax is a brand of tampons - small, absorbent period products worn inside the vagina to absorb menstrual flow. Most Tampax tampons come with an applicator to make them easy to insert.
How do you insert a Tampax tampon?
Wash your hands, get comfortable, and use the applicator to gently guide the tampon into the vagina at a slight upward and backward angle, then push the inner tube to release it and remove the applicator. It should sit comfortably so you cannot feel it - the leaflet in the pack has step-by-step pictures.
Are Tampax tampons safe?
Yes, tampons are safe for periods when used correctly: use the lowest absorbency for your flow, change it every 4 to 8 hours, and never leave one in for more than 8 hours. This lowers the small risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS) - if you feel suddenly unwell with a high temperature while using a tampon, take it out and seek medical advice.
Do Tampax tampons expire?
Tampons do not have the same kind of expiry as food, but they do have a shelf life and are best used within the date on the box, stored somewhere clean and dry. An old or damp tampon should be thrown away rather than used.
What absorbency of Tampax do you need?
