Frequently asked questions
Do Sea-Bands work?
Many people find Sea-Bands helpful for travel sickness and nausea, and because they are drug-free they can be a good first thing to try, though scientific evidence is mixed and they do not work for everyone. As they have no medicines or side effects, there is little harm in giving them a go.
How do Sea-Bands work?
Sea-Bands apply pressure, via a small stud, to the Nei-Kuan (P6) acupressure point on the inner wrist, which is traditionally linked with easing nausea. It is the same idea as acupressure, without needles or drugs.
How do you wear Sea-Bands?
Wear a band on each wrist with the stud pressed onto the P6 point - about three finger-widths down from the wrist crease, between the two tendons. The pack shows exactly where to place them for the best effect.
Do Sea-Bands help vertigo?
Sea-Bands are designed for nausea rather than vertigo itself, but they may help with the queasiness that vertigo can bring. If you have frequent vertigo, it is worth seeing your GP to look at the cause.
Are Sea-Bands safe in pregnancy?
Yes, because they are drug-free, Sea-Bands (including Sea-Band Mama) are a popular, gentle option for morning sickness in pregnancy. If sickness in pregnancy is severe or you cannot keep fluids down, speak to your midwife or GP.
Are Sea-Bands reusable?
Yes, Sea-Bands are washable and reusable, so you can use the same pair again and again. Let them dry fully between uses.
