Frequently asked questions
What is Nair?
Nair is a brand of depilatory (hair removal) products that remove unwanted hair without shaving or waxing. Its creams work by dissolving the hair at skin level so it wipes or rinses away, leaving skin smooth.
How does Nair work?
Nair hair removal cream contains ingredients that break down the keratin structure of the hair, weakening it so it can be wiped away at the skin's surface. Because it works at the surface, results tend to last a little longer than shaving but not as long as waxing.
Can you use Nair on pubic hair?
Only use a Nair product that is specifically designed for the bikini or intimate area, and follow its instructions exactly - never use a regular body cream on the genitals or any internal areas, as the skin there is very sensitive. Always patch test first, and stop straight away if it stings or burns.
How long does Nair last?
Because Nair removes hair at the surface rather than the root, results typically last a few days to around a week, a little longer than shaving. Regrowth tends to feel softer than the stubble you get from shaving.
How do you use Nair?
Apply an even layer to clean, dry skin, leave it on for the time stated on the pack (no longer), then remove and rinse thoroughly with water. Do a patch test 24 hours beforehand, avoid broken or irritated skin, and never leave it on longer than directed.
How do you treat a Nair burn?
If Nair irritates or burns your skin, rinse the area straight away with plenty of cool water, then soothe it with a plain moisturiser or something like aloe vera and avoid further irritation. If the skin blisters, is very painful or does not settle, see a pharmacist or GP - and always patch test and stick to the timings to prevent it happening.
